Caucasus Calling: An Adventure in Georgia

Trip Highlights: 3-day trek from Mestia to Ushguli in the Svaneti region, cultural immersion in Tbilisi, and indulgence in Georgian gastronomy.


Day 1: Departure from Dublin and Arrival in Tbilisi

  • Flight: Depart Dublin Airport on June 14, connecting through Istanbul to Tbilisi.

  • Arrival: Evening arrival in Tbilisi; overnight stay at a centrally located hotel.


Day 2: Journey to Mestia

  • Morning: Domestic flight from Tbilisi to Mestia (approx. 1 hour).

  • Afternoon: Explore Mestia, visit the Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography.

  • Evening: Prepare for the trek; overnight in a local guesthouse.


Days 3–5: Trekking from Mestia to Ushguli

Overview: A moderate 3-day trek covering approximately 58 km through the Caucasus Mountains, passing through traditional Svan villages and stunning alpine landscapes.

Day 6: Return to Tbilisi

  • Morning: Drive from Ushguli to Mestia (approx. 2.5 hours).

  • Afternoon: Flight back to Tbilisi.

  • Evening: Relax and enjoy a traditional Georgian dinner in Tbilisi.


Day 7: Exploring Tbilisi and Departure

  • Morning: Visit historical sites like the Narikala Fortress and the Sulphur Baths.

  • Afternoon: Stroll through the Old Town, shop for souvenirs.

  • Evening: Depart Tbilisi for Dublin via connecting flight.
